Laguna Amarilla How to get there?

Laguna Amarilla Location 

The attraction is located southeast of the parish La Candelaria del Cantón Penipe - Province of Chimborazo - Ecuador . To access the place you must go by the community of Releche by car through a first-order route until you reach the hacienda of the lords of Cedeños, from this sector there is a third-order path which is accessible only by horse or on foot until you reach the lagoon .    

It is worth mentioning that in summer the trip is up to 4 hours, while in winter it is approximately 5 hours.

El Altar Yellow Lagoon Ecuador

It is one of the lagoons of the lacustrine system of the Nevado El Altar, which is located within the snowy crater at 4250 meters above sea level, it is formed by the snowmelt melting, its coloration is greenish, but it is called yellow due to the landslide that was years ago where Geophysicist baptized him with that color. The formation is about 220 to 250 m wide and 600 m long.

From this lagoon part of the Blanco River is born, the attraction offers unique landscapes to observe.

 Attractive Yellow Lagoon 

A large number of species with great biological importance can be observed such as:

• Mammals: Puma (Puma concolor), White-tailed deer, Chucuri (Mustela frenata), Wasteland wolf (Licalopex culpeus),
• Avifauna: Rainbow Picospina (Chalcostigma herrani), Dorsiazul Picospina (Chalcostigma stanlyi), xenodacnis (xenodacnis parina), Andean Condor (Vultur gryphus), which is in danger of extinction.  
• Flora: The vegetation is dominated by lichens, mosses and native plants which are mixed, between Andean forest populated by Polylepys, Quishuar and wax laurel. 
• Collanes Waterfall: This attraction is born from the yellow lagoon and descends in the middle of it to continue with it through the Collanes Valley, the waterfall is 250 m 
• Tuilcha: It is located about 8 km from the community of Releche on the route that goes to the yellow lagoon. The attraction is considered for the inhabitants as a rest area and formerly the chagras rodeos were performed, in the place you can observe rabbits, curiquingues among others.
